Employer links are currently U.S. focused due to the the unique size and structure of the U.S. economy’s private healthcare system. In the U.S., medical insurance is provided by employers rather than the government (excepting Medicare/Medicaid), so medical travel/tourism offered U.S. employers an opportunity to lower the cost of the healthcare they offer employees. Employers’ successes and failures will have a huge impact on the global market for medical travel due to the size of the U.S. demand for healthcare. I have selected these links for their value in pointing out some aspect of employers’ thoughts and initiatives, including examples and case studies. In comments, I usually indicate which links include stories or case studies of firms’ experiments with medical tourism.
